Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed his sorrow over the passing of Indian industrialist and Tata Group’s Chairman Emeritus, Ratan Tata, describing him as a “proud son of India” and a strong advocate of the friendship between the two nations. In his letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Netanyahu stated, “I and many in Israel mourn the loss of Ratan Naval Tata, a proud son of India and a champion of the friendship between our two countries. Please convey my condolences to Ratan’s family.”
Ratan Tata passed away at the age of 86 at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital after battling a prolonged illness. His passing was mourned by leaders across the globe. US Ambassador to India, Eric Garcetti, remarked, “India and the world have lost a giant with a giant heart. When I was nominated as ambassador, the first congratulations from India came from Ratan Tata.”
French President Emmanuel Macron also expressed his grief, stating, “Ratan Tata’s visionary leadership helped boost industries in both India and France. France has lost a dear friend in him. His legacy will be remembered for his humanist vision, philanthropic achievements, and humility.”
Tech leaders like Google CEO Sundar Pichai and Microsoft founder Bill Gates also paid tributes. Pichai fondly remembered his last meeting with Tata, saying, “During our last meeting at Google, we discussed the progress of Waymo, and his vision was truly inspiring.” Bill Gates reflected, “Ratan Tata was a visionary leader whose dedication to improving lives left an indelible mark on India and the world.”
