Allegations of Irregularities and Paper Leaks

Several centers have come under scrutiny for alleged paper leaks. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested individuals, including students, parents, and members of “paper solver” gangs, in connection with the alleged leak of the May 5 NEET-UG exam question paper.

Centers Under Investigation

  • Jay Jalaram International School, Godhra, Gujarat: Highest score was 678.
  • Jay Jalaram School, Dahod, Gujarat: Highest score was 600.
  • Hardayal Public School, Jhajjar, Haryana: Only 10 students scored above 600, none above 700 after grace marks were removed.
  • Oasis Public School, Hazaribagh, Jharkhand: Only 22 students scored above 600, implicated in the NEET paper leak investigation.

Legal Proceedings and Supreme Court Involvement

The Supreme Court is currently reviewing multiple petitions regarding alleged irregularities in the May 5 test. The results were initially announced on June 5 and have now been released in a center-wise format as directed by the court. The court mandated that the results be released with the identities of candidates masked to determine if candidates from compromised centers scored higher than others.

Future Hearings

The Supreme Court is set to continue hearing arguments on July 22. The petitions call for the exam’s cancellation, a re-test, and a court-monitored investigation into the malpractice allegations.

Conclusion

The NEET UG 2024 results have brought to light significant concerns regarding the conduct of the examination at specific centers. The exceptional success rates at the Rajkot and Sikar centers, combined with allegations of paper leaks and irregularities, have led to legal scrutiny and demands for comprehensive investigations. As the Supreme Court continues to review the case, the future of the affected candidates and the integrity of the NEET examination system hang in the balance.
