At least nine Naxals were killed in an intense encounter with security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Dantewada district on Tuesday. This operation, which targeted Naxalites from the People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) Company No. 2, began after security personnel received intelligence reports about their presence near the border of Dantewada and Bijapur districts.
The clash began around 10:30 AM when the security forces confronted the armed Naxal group. During the encounter, the forces recovered the bodies of nine Naxalites along with several weapons, including Self-Loading Rifles (SLR) and 12 Bore guns. The ongoing operation continues with sporadic firing heard in the area, although no security personnel have been injured so far.
This encounter marks a significant achievement in the ongoing battle against Naxalism in the region. Recently, Union Home Minister Amit Shah held discussions with the Directors General of Police from seven states to strategize against Naxal activities. This meeting emphasized the need for enhanced coordination and tactical operations to combat Naxal threats effectively.
In recent incidents, Naxalites have intensified their attacks on civilians, suspecting them of being police informers. Last week, three villagers were brutally killed by Naxals in Bijapur district, highlighting the growing menace in the area. The Chhattisgarh government, along with central agencies, continues to prioritize dismantling Naxalite networks in the region to restore peace and security.
Security personnel remain vigilant, ensuring that no threats are left unchecked as the operation continues. The successful elimination of these Naxalites serves as a reminder of the ongoing efforts to counter Naxalism and secure the lives of citizens in affected regions.
