Mumbai on High Alert for Terror Threat

Mumbai has been placed on high alert due to information from central agencies indicating possible terror threats during the upcoming festival season. Security measures have been intensified, particularly at crowded locations, including religious sites. The police have been instructed to conduct mock drills as a precaution.

A police officer stated on Friday, “We have been instructed to carry out ‘mock drills’ at crowded places and religious sites. All DCPs have been asked to pay special attention to security arrangements in their respective zones.” A mock drill was conducted in the Crawford Market area, known for its heavy crowds and home to two major religious sites.

The officer further mentioned, “Considering the upcoming festivals and elections, mock drills are being conducted at Crawford Market and other locations in Mumbai.” Sources indicate that all temples in the city have been asked to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities as a precautionary measure.

Security forces have decided to focus on religious sites and crowded areas. Ensuring safety during the festival preparations is crucial to counter any potential attacks. This step aims to enhance Mumbai’s alertness against terrorism, promoting a secure environment for the citizens during the festive season.
