During a public rally in Kathua, Jammu and Kashmir, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge suddenly felt unwell. While addressing the rally, Kharge became dizzy and was assisted into a chair by his colleagues on stage. Later in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called Kharge to check on his health and express concern.
Kharge received medical assistance on stage and later reassured his supporters, stating, “I will not die until PM Modi is removed from power.” He went on to address the crowd, criticizing the BJP’s delay in restoring statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. “These people never intended to hold elections. It was only after the Supreme Court’s intervention that they started preparing for elections,” Kharge remarked.
Kharge further accused the BJP of allowing outsiders to dominate key sectors like mining and liquor contracts in Jammu and Kashmir. He said, “Why has the BJP delayed the restoration of statehood when they hold all the power? The people of Jammu and Kashmir deserve better governance, and the BJP has failed to deliver.”
He also accused Prime Minister Modi of insincerely showing concern for the youth of Jammu and Kashmir, while “the reality is that in the last 10 years, the youth of the entire country have been pushed into darkness, and Modi is directly responsible for this.”
Kharge was campaigning for Congress candidate Thakur Balbir Singh from Jasrota, ahead of the October 1 polling date.
