Manu Bhaker Secures Final Spot in Women’s 10m Air Pistol
Indian shooter Manu Bhaker has made a remarkable achievement by qualifying for the final of the women’s 10m Air Pistol event at the Paris 2024 Olympics. Her performance in the qualification rounds has been nothing short of impressive.
Qualification Performance
Bhaker finished 3rd in the qualifications with a score of 580-27x, demonstrating exceptional shooting skills throughout the event. She consistently scored high, starting with 97 in her first series and repeating the feat in the second. Her strong performance continued as she accumulated 292/300 at the halfway mark, leading her to secure a place in the final.
Comeback After Tokyo Olympics
This marks a significant comeback for Bhaker, who had faced disappointments at the Tokyo Olympics. Her qualification for the final is a testament to her dedication and resilience. Bhaker’s final qualification round included consistent scores of 97, 97, 98, 96, and 96, showcasing her ability to maintain high performance under pressure.
Other Indian Shooters’ Performances
While Bhaker advanced to the final, her compatriot Rhythm Sangwan finished 15th with a score of 573-14x, falling short of qualification. The Indian team also faced challenges in other events, with Sarabjot Singh and Arjun Singh Cheema not making it to the men’s 10m air pistol final, and the mixed team in 10m air rifle missing out on the medal round.
Bhaker’s qualification for the final has rekindled hopes for an Olympic medal. Her impressive performance is a bright spot for the Indian shooting contingent as they continue to compete in Paris.
