How Manu and Sarabjot Clinched the Bronze Medal
The Indian shooting pair of Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh achieved a remarkable feat by winning the bronze medal in the 10m Air Pistol mixed team event at the Chateauroux Shooting Centre during the Paris 2024 Olympics. This win marks India’s second shooting medal at these Games, following Bhaker’s earlier bronze in the women’s 10m air pistol event.
India’s Stellar Performance
In the high-stakes 10m Air Pistol mixed team event, Bhaker and Singh showcased exceptional skill and composure. The Indian team led 4-2 after the third series and extended their lead to 8-2 by the fifth. Despite South Korea closing the gap to 10-6 after the eighth series, Bhaker and Singh remained focused, securing a comfortable victory.

A Historic Achievement
This victory is significant for both athletes. Sarabjot Singh secured his first Olympic medal, while Manu Bhaker made history by becoming the first Indian to win multiple medals at a single Olympic Games. Bhaker’s achievements at Paris 2024 place her alongside legends like Norman Pritchard, Sushil Kumar, and PV Sindhu, who have won multiple medals for India in past Summer Games.
Qualification and Medal Match
In the 10m Air Pistol mixed team qualification, Bhaker and Singh finished third with 580 points and 20 perfect shots. They overcame the Korean team of Xue Li and Wonho Lee with a decisive 16-8 victory in the bronze medal match. The Turkish pair of Sevval Ilayda Tarhan and Yusuf Dikec, who matched the Olympic qualification record with 582 points, competed against Serbia’s Zorana Arunovic and Damir Mikec in the gold medal match. India’s Rhythm Sangwan and Arjun Singh Cheema did not advance to the medal match, finishing 10th with a score of 576.
How Manu and Sarabjot Secured Their Bronze
India started with a slight disadvantage as Korea led the first round with a score of 20.5 to India’s 18.8. However, Bhaker and Singh quickly regained their footing, winning the second round with scores of 10.7 and 10.5. The Indian duo continued their impressive performance in the third round, scoring 10.4 each, compared to Korea’s 19.8. Despite a brief setback, Bhaker’s consistent high scores, including a crucial 10.5, helped extend the Indian lead to 12-6.
Korea managed to reduce the lead to 14-8, but India’s strong final performance ensured they clinched the bronze medal. Bhaker and Singh scored 19.6 in the last series to secure their place on the podium.
