Haryana Election: Manu Bhaker Casts First Vote, Sends Strong Message to Youth
Paris Olympics double medalist Manu Bhaker cast her vote for the first time in the Haryana assembly elections, sending a powerful message to the country’s youth to actively participate in shaping the nation’s future.
At 22, Bhaker, who is currently on a break from sports, voted on Saturday, October 4. After casting her vote, she urged the youth to perform their duty and be proactive in choosing the country’s leaders.
Manu Bhaker emphasized the importance of small steps leading to big goals. “I believe it’s our responsibility, as the youth of this country, to vote. Whoever you think is the best candidate, you should vote for them. Our small steps contribute to greater progress, and it’s in our hands because the leaders we choose will fulfill our dreams,” Bhaker told ANI.
She further added, “This is the first time I voted. I was quite excited, and I’m glad I’ve done it.”
While taking a break from shooting, Manu Bhaker remains socially active as a youth figure. She recently addressed social media trolls in a strong post on X, where she was criticized for wearing her Olympic medals at every promotional event.
Despite staying silent for a long time, Bhaker finally responded, saying she wears her medals with pride, sharing her journey with fellow Indians. “The two bronze medals I won at the Paris 2024 Olympics belong to India. Whenever I’m invited to an event and asked to show these medals, I do it with pride. It’s my way of sharing my journey with my fellow Indians,” she said on Twitter.
Manu Bhaker became a standout performer for India at the Paris Olympics, winning two bronze medals. Her first medal came in the Women’s 10m Air Pistol event, marking India’s first medal at the Paris Games. With calm and consistent performance, Bhaker secured a place on the podium amidst tough competition.
Building on this momentum, Bhaker teamed up with Sarabjot Singh in the Mixed Team 10m Air Pistol event, winning another bronze medal for India. Bhaker became the first Indian to win two medals in a single Olympic edition, showcasing her exceptional talent and determination.
