AAP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, Manish Sisodia, on Sunday, revealed that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) tried to destroy him both politically and mentally. Speaking at the ‘Janta ki Adalat’ event held at Jantar Mantar, Sisodia claimed that the ED froze his bank accounts, forcing him to “beg” to pay his son’s college fees.
“When I was a journalist, I bought a small house in 2002 for ₹5 lakh. They seized that house and took possession. I had ₹10 lakh in my salary account, which they also took. My son’s college fees were due, and I had to beg others to pay them because my bank account was frozen,” Sisodia stated.
He further added that the ED harassed him mentally, but despite these attempts, he did not break. “Their aim was to break me, but I am a loyal soldier of Arvind Kejriwal’s team. I did not panic or break,” Sisodia said.
Sisodia was arrested in February 2023 by the ED in connection with a money laundering case linked to the Delhi liquor policy. He was released on bail by the Supreme Court in August 2024.
Addressing the BJP’s attempts to create a rift between him and Kejriwal, Sisodia stated that the bond between him and the AAP chief was unshakeable. “BJP tried to claim that Kejriwal had blamed me for the liquor policy case, but I told them, ‘No Ravana can ever separate Lakshman from Ram.’ As long as Arvind Kejriwal fights the battle against dictatorship, I will stand by him as Lakshman.”
Sisodia also remarked that had Ram and Lakshman ever been separated in the Ramayana, they would have reunited the same way he and Kejriwal did on September 13, after Kejriwal was released from Tihar Jail.
