Manipur Forms High-Level Committee to Investigate Drones Used by Kuki Militants

Manipur has formed a high-level committee to critically examine the deployment of drones by Kuki militants. The initiative aims to gather evidence and assess the specifications of the drones used in recent attacks, enabling authorities to devise effective countermeasures.

The committee, led by Additional DGP (Intelligence) Ashutosh Kumar Sinha, includes Major General SS Kartikeya of the 57 Mountain Division, Major General Ravroop Singh of IGAR (South), Vipul Kumar from IG CRPF, and DIG J.K. Birdi of BSF CI (Operations). Technical members may be added as needed.

The investigation follows an attack in Koutruk, Imphal West district, where militants used drones equipped with RPGs, resulting in civilian and police injuries. The committee is expected to submit its findings to the Director General of Police, Manipur, by September 13, 2024.
