Aakhir Tak – In Depth:
In a startling incident, at least ten prominent hotels in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, received bomb threats via email on Sunday. The threats demanded a ransom of $55,000 (approximately ₹4,624,288), stating that an explosion would occur if the demands were not met. The email ominously warned, “Bombs are hidden in black bags on the grounds of your hotel. I want $55,000, or I will detonate the explosives and blood will spread everywhere. Any attempt at defusing the bombs will detonate them.”
The hotels targeted by this threat include Marriott, Saraca, Piccadily, Comfort Vista, Fortune, Lemon Tree, Clark Awadh, Casa, Dayal Gateway, and Silvette. Upon receiving the threat, hotel management promptly informed the police, leading to immediate investigations by local authorities.
This incident follows closely on the heels of bomb threats received by three hotels in the temple area of Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh. In that case, the email claimed that “international pressure” had increased due to the arrest of Jaffer Sadiq, suggesting that “such blasts in schools are necessary to divert attention away from MK Stalin’s family’s involvement in the case.”
Previously, the Taj West End Hotel in Bengaluru also received a bomb threat email last month. This prompted authorities to bring in sniffer dogs and the bomb squad for inspections. However, after thorough investigations, a senior police officer concluded that the bomb threat was a hoax.
