Aakhir Tak – In Depth:
Lawrence Bishnoi’s Gang Follows Dawood’s Path:
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a chargesheet under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) against gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and his associate Goldy Brar. In its chargesheet, the NIA compared Bishnoi’s gang to Dawood Ibrahim’s D-Company. The agency revealed that Bishnoi’s terror network has expanded in a manner similar to how Dawood established his empire in the 1990s through drug trafficking, targeted killings, and extortion. Bishnoi’s gang has now gained dominance across North India, following a similar trajectory.
Over 700 Shooters and Presence in 11 States:
NIA disclosed that the Bishnoi gang consists of over 700 shooters, with 300 linked to Punjab alone. Social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube have helped spread Bishnoi and Goldy Brar’s influence among young people. Between 2020 and 2021, the gang extorted crores of rupees, which were sent abroad through hawala channels.
Gang Expansion and Recruitment Strategies:
Initially confined to Punjab, the gang has expanded its reach to Haryana, Delhi, and Rajasthan, thanks to Goldy Brar. The gang has now spread across Northern India, including states like Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Jharkhand. Using social media, the gang lures young people with promises of moving them to Canada or other countries of their choice. According to the NIA, Khalistani terrorist Harvinder Singh Rinda, based in Pakistan, uses Bishnoi’s shooters to carry out targeted killings in Punjab.
