Aakhir Tak – In Depth

The Operation Details

In a major breakthrough, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) extradited Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) operative Salman Rehman Khan from Rwanda. This operation was executed in collaboration with the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Interpol’s National Central Bureau.

The Charges Against Khan

Khan faces serious charges, including funding terrorism, facilitating the supply of arms, and being a member of a banned organization. Investigators allege he supported Bengaluru-based terror modules by providing weapons and funds.

Case Background

The investigation began when Bengaluru City Police seized seven pistols, grenades, and other weapons from a central prison. Further inquiries revealed the involvement of a larger network linked to LeT. The NIA took over the case in 2023, identifying Khan as a key figure.

CBI’s Strategic Move

After issuing an Interpol Red Notice in August, intelligence teams tracked Khan to Rwanda. The extradition is part of CBI’s intensified efforts to bring back fugitives; 26 have been returned in 2024 alone.
