Kolkata Rape-Murder: Post-Mortem Reveals Gang-Rape Signs

The brutal murder of a 31-year-old trainee doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital has sent shockwaves across the nation, with new evidence suggesting that the crime may have been a gang-rape. According to Dr. Subarna Goswami, who spoke to India Today, the post-mortem report indicates that the nature of the injuries could not have been inflicted by a single person.

Dr. Goswami, the additional general secretary of the All India Federation of Government Doctors’ Association, emphasized that the post-mortem report detailed the presence of 151 gm of fluid in the victim’s vaginal swab. “The quantity suggests the involvement of multiple people,” Dr. Goswami explained, pointing to the horrific nature of the crime. The trainee doctor’s lifeless body was discovered in a seminar room at the hospital on a fateful Friday morning, found semi-naked, with signs of a violent struggle. A civic volunteer with Kolkata Police, identified as Sanjoy Roy, has been arrested in connection with the crime. However, emerging details from the post-mortem report have raised further questions about the extent of the violence she endured.

Disturbing Details Unveiled in the Report

The post-mortem report paints a grim picture, revealing that the young woman was throttled before being smothered to death. Her thyroid cartilage was found broken due to strangulation, and there were deep wounds in her private parts, indicating severe sexual violence. The report described these injuries as resulting from “perverted sexuality” and “genital torture,” adding to the evidence that the crime involved extreme brutality.

Further examination uncovered additional injuries, including bruises on her belly, lips, fingers, and left leg. Blood was reportedly found oozing from her eyes and mouth, and her nose and mouth were likely clamped shut to prevent her from crying out during the assault. The severity of the violence was such that her head was forcibly pushed against a wall, and scratch marks were visible on her face, indicating a desperate struggle to escape her assailants.

Family’s Shocking Revelations

The victim’s family has recounted the appalling state in which her body was found. A relative described how her legs were unnaturally positioned, 90 degrees apart, suggesting a broken pelvic girdle, implying that she may have been torn apart during the attack. They also noted that her glasses were shattered, with shards found embedded in her eyes, adding further evidence of the torture she endured before her death.
