Kolkata Doctor’s Family Claims Murder Conspiracy
In a shocking development, the family of the trainee doctor raped and murdered at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital has alleged that the accused, Sanjoy Roy, was hired to kill their daughter. This claim was made following the discovery of the victim’s body on August 9.
Sanjoy Roy, a civic volunteer with the Kolkata Police, was arrested on August 10, the day after the trainee doctor’s semi-naked body was found in the hospital’s seminar hall. An autopsy confirmed the brutal rape and murder.
In an exclusive interview with Aaj Tak Bangla, the victim’s mother alleged that her daughter was targeted due to her knowledge of “some dark secrets.” She accused Roy of being deployed to murder her daughter and expressed frustration over misleading social media news about the incident.
The mother criticized former RG Kar Medical College Principal Dr. Sandip Ghosh for not reaching out or apologizing post-incident. She revealed that her daughter feared failure in her MD exams, and her last words were reportedly, “My food has arrived.”
The victim, who had planned to order medicine for her father before going to dinner, was described by her mother as a dedicated student who even studied after 36-hour shifts and participated in online courses. The mother mentioned that her daughter intended to pursue a Doctorate of Medicine (DM) and had books for preparation.
West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose visited the family, promising justice and support. The mother criticized police and RG Kar authorities for delaying the viewing of her daughter’s body, questioning their motives and accusing them of trying to expedite the disposal of the body.
Protesters, including doctors, have since organized demonstrations demanding stringent action against the culprits and stronger laws to combat such heinous crimes. The family continues to seek justice, with ongoing support and public outcry.
