Khamenei: 85-Year-Old Student Leader Ready for War Against Israel

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, aged 85, expressed his intention to lead a direct war against Israel in his Friday sermon. Khamenei, who joined student protests against the Shah of Iran in 1979, has now emerged as a leader of the Muslim community in Iran. His readiness was symbolized by the rifle at his side during the sermon, signaling a serious commitment.

Born in 1939 to a modest family, Khamenei was inspired by his father, an Islamic scholar, to pursue education. He studied religious education and Islamic jurisprudence, later receiving higher education in Najaf, Iraq, where he met Ruhollah Khomeini, who became a central figure in the Iranian revolution.

After the 1979 Islamic Revolution, Khamenei rose as a significant political leader under Khomeini’s guidance. He took office as Iran’s President in 1981 and became the Supreme Leader in 1989. During his tenure, Iran launched multiple missile attacks against Israel, highlighting Khamenei’s political stance.

Recently, Khamenei’s aggressive posture towards Israel has intensified. Following the assassination of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, Iran launched 180 ballistic missiles at Israel, demonstrating Khamenei’s commitment to defending his country directly.

Khamenei has consistently adopted a strong anti-Israel and anti-U.S. stance. He considers Israel a “cancerous tumor” that must be eradicated from the region. This ideology has been instrumental in shaping Iran’s political identity.
