Bungalow No. 5 at Lutyens’ Delhi: Arvind Kejriwal’s New Home
AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal will vacate his official residence on Friday and move to bungalow number 5, Ferozshah Road near Mandi House.
According to an official statement from AAP on Thursday, Kejriwal will shift with his family to the new house in the New Delhi area, vacating the official residence of the Delhi Chief Minister at 6, Flagstaff Road, Civil Lines. The bungalow is currently allotted to AAP Rajya Sabha MP Ashok Mittal.
Kejriwal resigned as Delhi Chief Minister on September 17 after securing bail in the liquor policy case. He said he stepped down to obtain a “certificate of honesty” from the people of Delhi, intending to return to the post once he regains their trust. Senior AAP leader Atishi, a close ally of Kejriwal, was sworn in as Delhi’s Chief Minister on September 21.
His resignation came ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections, which are scheduled for February next year.
Arvind Kejriwal has represented the New Delhi constituency as an MLA since 2013, when he defeated the then Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit. He retained the seat in both the 2015 and 2020 elections.
Kejriwal spent nearly six months in Tihar Jail in connection with alleged irregularities in the Delhi liquor policy for 2021-22. He has consistently denied the accusations, claiming they are part of a political vendetta by the BJP.
