Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, made her first public engagement since completing her chemotherapy, alongside her husband, Prince William, in Southport. This marked her first joint appearance after finishing her chemotherapy treatment.
The royal couple visited Southport on Wednesday, where they met the families of three children who tragically lost their lives in a knife attack in July during a Taylor Swift-themed dance event. The heartbreaking incident shocked the entire community.
Kate and William also took time to meet with representatives from the local emergency services who responded to the tragedy. In a show of support, they participated in a fundraiser organized by the national police and wellbeing service. The fundraiser’s goal is to aid in the psychological and physical rehabilitation of the police and ambulance staff who faced the aftermath of the attack.
Calling the incident “horrid and heinous,” the royal couple shared a heartfelt message on social media: “As parents, we cannot begin to imagine the pain that the families, friends, and loved ones of those killed and injured in Southport today are going through. We send our love, thoughts, and prayers to all those involved in this horrid and heinous attack. Thank you also to the emergency responders who, despite facing horrific scenes, showed immense compassion and professionalism when your community needed you the most.”
On September 9, Kate announced via a video message that she had completed her chemotherapy treatment, six months after disclosing she had an undisclosed type of cancer. Since then, she has resumed light public duties.
Earlier, on September 23, Kate and Prince William were seen attending church with King Charles III and Queen Camilla near their Balmoral estate in Scotland, marking her first public appearance after chemotherapy.
Kate also made a rare appearance at Wimbledon’s men’s final in July, which was only her second public outing this year during her preventive cancer treatment.
