Wife Allegedly Poisons Husband on Karwa Chauth: Shocking Incident in Kaushambi
In a shocking incident from Uttar Pradesh’s Kaushambi district, a woman allegedly killed her husband by poisoning him on the day of Karwa Chauth, a Hindu festival where wives fast for their husbands’ long lives. The victim, identified as 32-year-old Shailesh Kumar, died after consuming macaroni laced with poison, served by his wife, Savita, shortly after breaking her fast.
Marital Issues between the Couple
According to the police, Shailesh and Savita were facing ongoing marital issues. On the morning of Karwa Chauth, Shailesh was busy preparing for the festival, while his wife observed the fast. However, tensions escalated later in the evening when the couple argued just before Savita was to break her fast.
Poisoned Macaroni Leads to Death
After the argument subsided, Savita prepared dinner for her husband. She served him macaroni laced with poison and then left under the pretext of visiting a neighbor. Shailesh’s health deteriorated soon after eating, and his family rushed him to the hospital, where he later died during treatment.
Accusation and Arrest
Before his death, Shailesh recorded a video statement accusing his wife of poisoning him. Based on his video testimony, Shailesh’s family lodged a complaint with the police. Authorities took the body for post-mortem and registered a case against Savita.
Police Statement and Investigation
Kaushambi Superintendent of Police Brijesh Kumar Shrivastava confirmed the incident, stating that further investigation is underway. He added that legal action would be taken against the accused based on the post-mortem report. Savita has been arrested and is currently under interrogation.
