Kangana Slams IC 814 Series: Unfair Censorship

Kangana Ranaut has voiced her concerns over the current state of content regulation on OTT platforms, specifically targeting the Netflix series, “IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack.” The series, directed by Anubhav Sinha, has come under fire for its portrayal of the 1999 hijacking of an Indian Airlines aircraft. Kangana, known for her outspoken views, criticized the unregulated depiction of violence and nudity on streaming platforms while highlighting the restrictions on nationalist content.

In her post on X, she expressed that platforms like Netflix have no restrictions on extreme content but fail to support works that emphasize national unity. This controversy comes just after her film “Emergency,” a biographical political drama, was postponed and will no longer release on September 6. Kangana stated, “It seems censorship is only for some of us who don’t want tukde of this nation and make films on historic facts. It’s hugely demotivating and unjust.”

The series “IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack” began streaming on August 29 and depicts the real-life events of the 1999 hijacking. However, its portrayal of the terrorists by changing their names to ‘Shankar’ and ‘Bhola’ has sparked backlash, with critics accusing the creators of altering facts to fit certain agendas.
