J&K Rajouri Terrorist Attack: Search Operation Ongoing

A terrorist attack in the Thana Mandi area of Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir has triggered a massive security operation. The incident occurred around 7:30 PM when Jammu and Kashmir Police, along with personnel from the Rashtriya Rifles, moved into the lower Karyote village of Thanamandi following reports of suspicious movements.

The unidentified terrorists opened fire on the police team, prompting a brief exchange of gunfire. The assailants managed to escape under the cover of darkness. No casualties or injuries have been reported so far, and the situation is under close monitoring by security forces.

In response, both the police and the Indian Army have launched a cordon and search operation in the region to track down the terrorists. Additional forces have been deployed to ensure the safety of the local populace.

This incident comes days after security forces foiled two infiltration attempts along the Line of Control in Kupwara district, resulting in the elimination of three terrorists. During the operation in Tangdhar, one terrorist was confirmed killed, and in Machhal, Kupwara, two more were eliminated. Security forces recovered two AK rifles, one pistol, four hand grenades, and other war-like stores from the terrorists.

The operations in Kupwara were based on specific intelligence inputs received by Kupwara Police on August 28. Suspicious activity was initially detected in Kumkadi around 7:30 PM, followed by an exchange of gunfire that continued until the next morning. Similarly, in the Karnah sector, suspicious movement was spotted around 9:00 PM, leading to an overnight gunfight between security forces and terrorists.

Authorities are urging locals to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to prevent further attacks. The security forces are determined to track down those responsible for the attack and ensure the safety and security of the region.
