Prashant Kishor Officially Launches Jan Suraaj Party in Patna
On Wednesday in Patna, poll strategist-turned-politician Prashant Kishor officially launched his new political party, the “Jan Suraaj Party.” Kishor stated that the party has been active for the past two years and recently received approval from the Election Commission of India.
With the Election Commission’s nod, the Jan Suraaj Party is now expected to contest in all constituencies in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. In a veiled dig at the Opposition for questioning his party’s alleged ties to the BJP, Kishor stated that the Jan Suraaj Party is an “amalgamation of both RSS and minorities.”
Addressing the gathering, Prashant Kishor emphasized the need for significant overhaul in Bihar’s education system, estimating that Rs 5 lakh crore will be required over the next decade to achieve world-class standards.
Speaking on the state’s liquor ban, Kishor argued that the lost revenue—approximately Rs 20,000 crore annually—could instead be directed toward educational reform. “When the liquor ban is removed, that money won’t go into the budget for roads, water, electricity, or security for leaders. It will be used only for building a new education system in Bihar,” he said, underscoring the urgency of investing in the state’s future.
