As tensions escalate between Israel and Hezbollah, Israel has announced plans for more strikes against Hezbollah targets in Lebanon. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) issued a warning to residents in southern Lebanon to immediately leave their homes, as many buildings are used by Hezbollah to store weapons. This move could bring Israel’s 11-month conflict with Hezbollah closer to an all-out war.
IDF spokesperson Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari, in an official statement, advised civilians in buildings used for Hezbollah’s military purposes to evacuate immediately. Israel also released a map highlighting 17 villages in southern Lebanon but did not specify which would be targeted.
Last week, Israel’s covert operations targeted Hezbollah’s communication networks, and a rare strike in Beirut destroyed a building where Hezbollah commanders were meeting. Early Monday, the Israeli air force launched dozens of airstrikes across southern Lebanon, with Hezbollah bases being the primary target, according to reports from the Associated Press.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) has since instructed its members to stop using communication devices after the attacks destroyed many of Hezbollah’s devices.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that Israel had struck Hezbollah in ways it “could not imagine.” He warned that if Hezbollah hadn’t understood the message, they soon would.
