Israel Plans to Strike Iran’s Nuclear Sites, Biden Calls for Proportional Response
U.S. President Joe Biden has advised Israel to act cautiously in its plans to strike Iran’s nuclear and oil facilities. In response to reports that Israel is preparing to hit Iran following missile attacks, Biden emphasized that while Israel has the right to defend itself, its response must be “proportional.”
During a phone meeting with G7 leaders, Biden discussed imposing further sanctions on Iran due to the recent attacks. He stated, “All seven of us agree that Israel has the right to respond, but it must do so proportionally.”
Experts predict that Israel’s retaliation could be harsher than before, with potential strikes on Iran’s nuclear sites and key infrastructure. Some analysts suggest the U.S. should step in to moderate Israel’s actions to avoid escalating into a regional war.
Tensions in the Middle East have escalated further following missile exchanges between Israel and Iran, raising fears of a broader conflict. Israeli officials are currently finalizing the timing and targets for their potential response.
In a related incident, six people were killed in an Israeli airstrike in central Beirut on Thursday morning. Hezbollah has also ramped up its attacks, launching drones on Israel during Rosh Hashanah, which were countered by the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF).
As both sides increase their military activity, the threat of a larger-scale conflict looms. Analysts warn that an Israeli strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities could severely damage the country’s economy and heighten tensions across the region.
