Israel-Hezbollah War Live Updates: 3 Dead in Lebanon After Strikes

Lebanon Reports Casualties Post Israeli Strikes
In the latest escalation of the Israel-Hezbollah conflict, Lebanon has reported three deaths following a series of intense Israeli airstrikes on southern regions of the country. Hezbollah, the Iran-backed militant group, confirmed that one of its fighters was among the dead. These airstrikes are part of the ongoing hostilities that have seen both sides engage in heavy exchanges of fire.

Hezbollah’s Retaliatory Attacks
In response to the Israeli strikes, Hezbollah launched over 320 Katyusha rockets at 11 Israeli military bases and barracks. The Katyusha rockets, a weapon developed by the Soviets during World War II, are a significant part of Hezbollah’s arsenal, and have been extensively used in their offensive against Israel.

U.S. President Biden Monitoring the Situation
The White House has confirmed that President Joe Biden is closely monitoring the situation. According to Sean Savett, spokesperson for the National Security Council, senior U.S. officials are in continuous communication with their Israeli counterparts. The U.S. has reiterated its support for Israel’s right to defend itself while emphasizing the importance of regional stability.

Israeli Strikes Target Southern Lebanon
Lebanese security sources have reported at least 40 Israeli airstrikes on various towns in the country’s south. These strikes represent one of the most concentrated bombardments since the conflict reignited in October. The town of Khiam was particularly hard-hit, resulting in the death of a fighter from the Hezbollah-allied Shi’ite group Amal.

Northern Israel on High Alert
Northern Israel has been put on high alert, with warning sirens sounding across multiple regions. The Israeli Iron Dome defense system has been active, intercepting rockets launched from southern Lebanon. In response to the escalating situation, Israel’s Magen David Adom ambulance service has elevated its alert status nationwide. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported in Israel so far.

Lebanon’s Emergency Response
In Lebanon, caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati convened a meeting with Cabinet ministers to address the ongoing crisis. The national emergency committee is actively coordinating the response, while Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah is expected to address the nation in a televised speech later today.

Israel Declares State of Emergency
Amid the rising tensions, Israel has declared a state of emergency. Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant emphasized that while Israel is determined to protect its citizens, it does not seek a full-scale war. Flights to and from Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv were briefly suspended as a precautionary measure.

Minimal Damage Reported in Israel
Despite the heavy barrage from Hezbollah, Israeli military spokesperson Nadav Shoshani stated that the damage caused by the rockets was minimal. He noted that Israel’s real-time self-defense measures played a crucial role in mitigating the impact of the attack.

The conflict between Israel and Hezbollah continues to escalate, with no immediate signs of resolution. Both sides remain on high alert as the international community closely monitors the situation.
