Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei warned Hezbollah leader Syyed Hassan Nasrallah of an Israeli plot against him, according to three Iranian sources. Just days before his assassination, Khamenei urged Nasrallah to flee to Iran, citing intelligence reports suggesting that Israel had infiltrated Hezbollah.
In the wake of the September 17 attacks on Hezbollah’s bombed communications, Khamenei sent a message imploring Nasrallah to leave Lebanon. However, Nasrallah declined to relocate. Following his assassination, Khamenei ordered a barrage of 200 missiles to be fired at Israel.
This incident has raised concerns about Israeli infiltration at the highest levels of Iran’s leadership. Mistrust has increased within the Iranian establishment, complicating Hezbollah’s efforts to choose a new leader.
In light of these concerns, Iran has initiated a comprehensive investigation against Hezbollah. Many members are being scrutinized, especially those who frequently travel abroad.
Sources indicate that Nasrallah’s death has fueled mistrust between Tehran and Hezbollah, significantly impacting Iran’s strategic operations.
