The BCCI has announced a match fee of Rs 7.5 lakh for players ahead of IPL 2025. This announcement was made by BCCI’s outgoing secretary Jay Shah. Under this new initiative, players who feature in all matches of the season will receive an additional Rs 1.05 crore on top of their contract amount.
Jay Shah tweeted, “In a historic move to celebrate consistency, we are thrilled to introduce a match fee of INR 7.5 lakhs per game for our cricketers! A player participating in all league matches will earn Rs. 1.05 crores in addition to their contracted amount. Each franchise will allocate INR 12.60 crores for match fees this season! This marks a new era for the IPL and our players!”
This step is set to make players richer in the IPL, known as the ‘cash-rich league.’ The BCCI continues its efforts to draw greater interest among players with this new incentive scheme. This initiative is particularly aimed at helping players who often leave the IPL midway due to international commitments.
Young players will also benefit from this scheme, as even those contracted at a base price of Rs 20 lakh will earn over a crore if they play all games.
Earlier this year, the BCCI announced that Test cricketers playing at least 75% of scheduled matches will receive an extra Rs 45 lakh per game as a reward. This means a player appearing in 10 Tests in one season could earn an additional Rs 4.50 crore, alongside their regular Rs 1.5 crore match fee.
The BCCI’s new incentive scheme reflects its commitment to enhancing player welfare and engagement in IPL.
