Army Foils Infiltration Attempt in Rajouri, Kills Two Terrorists

The Indian Army foiled an infiltration attempt at the India-Pakistan border in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district on Monday, killing two terrorists.

The anti-infiltration operation was conducted in the Nowshera sector during the intervening night of Sunday and Monday. Security forces engaged the terrorists, killing two and seizing a cache of weapons, including AK-47 rifles.

A massive search operation is currently underway as security forces suspect more terrorists might have been hit during the crossfire. The area was illuminated and kept under strict surveillance before the search began, ensuring no terrorists could escape.

This incident follows a series of recent gunfights in the district. On September 3, a group of terrorists fired shots at the Army during a search operation in Rajouri, fleeing the scene without causing any casualties.

Another encounter took place in late August when the Army targeted a suspected terrorist hideout in the Lathi area of Rajouri. In July, a security post in Gundha was attacked, resulting in one soldier being injured.

These infiltration attempts and ongoing encounters are occurring ahead of the Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, scheduled in three phases on September 18, September 25, and October 1. The results will be declared on October 4.
