In a tragic accident on Saturday in the Mahalaxmi Nagar area of Indore, a speeding BMW coming from the wrong direction hit a scooter, killing two women. The driver, identified as Gajendra Pratap Singh (28), fled the scene but was arrested shortly after the incident.
The victims, Diksha Jadoun (25) and Laxmi Tomar (24), residents of Tulsinagar, Indore, suffered severe injuries. CCTV footage captured the moment when the BMW, driving against the flow of traffic, crashed into the women’s scooter. They were rushed to a nearby hospital, where they succumbed to their injuries during treatment.
During police interrogation, the accused revealed that he was hurrying to attend a friend’s birthday celebration, carrying a cake, which led him to drive in the wrong direction. He also disclosed that the BMW he was driving was a second-hand vehicle he had recently purchased.
Khajrana Station House Officer (SHO) Manoj Sendhav deployed a police team to apprehend the accused, who was later arrested and sent to jail.
A case has been filed against the driver under Section 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS). This incident has raised serious concerns about road safety in Indore.
