An Indian inquiry committee is set to visit Washington, D.C., on October 15. This committee will discuss the investigation into allegations linking an Indian government official to the assassination plot against Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun. The U.S. Department of State announced on Monday that the Indian committee is traveling to share information regarding the ongoing investigation.

However, the government later withdrew the statement posted by the U.S. Department of State. According to the official media release, the Indian committee will receive updates from American authorities on the ongoing case during their visit.

The committee was formed by India to investigate the activities of certain organized criminals. It is probing an individual identified last year in a Department of Justice indictment as an Indian government employee allegedly orchestrating the failed plot to assassinate a U.S. citizen in New York City.

The U.S. State Department stated that the Indian government informed them that it is continuing its efforts to investigate other connections related to the former government employee. Furthermore, they will determine necessary follow-up actions.

In November of last year, U.S. federal prosecutors charged Indian national Nikhil Gupta for his involvement in the conspiracy alongside the alleged Indian government official targeting Gurpatwant Singh Pannun in New York. Gupta was arrested in the Czech Republic in June and extradited to the U.S. on June 14.
