Aakhir Tak – In Depth
The Ministry of External Affairs of India harshly criticized Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s attitude, particularly after he admitted that there is no concrete proof against India in the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Trudeau acknowledged that his government’s allegations were based on “intelligence-based speculation” rather than hard evidence. Despite making serious accusations, Canada has yet to present any substantial proof to back its claims.
India, in its late-night statement, reiterated that Canada has failed to provide evidence and asserted that it had consistently requested Canada for proof regarding the allegations. The diplomatic row between the two nations has worsened, with both sides expelling diplomats in retaliation. India firmly placed the responsibility on Trudeau, stating that his actions have caused severe damage to the bilateral relations.
This came after Trudeau testified at a parliamentary inquiry on foreign interference, where he alleged that Indian representatives were attempting to silence critics of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Canadian soil. Despite Canada’s requests, India responded that all the allegations were based on intelligence rather than evidence, leading to escalating tensions between the countries.
