Aakhir Tak – In Depth

Jemima Goldsmith, former wife of Pakistan’s jailed ex-Prime Minister Imran Khan, has raised serious allegations against the Shehbaz Sharif-led government. According to Jemima, Imran Khan is being held in solitary confinement at Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail, with no electricity in his cell and no weekly contact with his sons, Suleiman and Kasim Khan. She stated that these calls were abruptly stopped on September 10, despite a court order ensuring them.

Jemima also claimed that all in-person visits to Imran have been suspended, and he has been isolated, unable to leave his cell. His lawyers are increasingly concerned about his well-being as the jail cook has been sent on leave, and there is no external contact allowed.

In addition to Imran, his family members are also facing pressure. His nephew, Hassan Niazi, has been in military custody since August 2023. Furthermore, Imran’s sisters, Uzma and Aleema Khan, were arrested while peacefully demonstrating, and are currently being held without lawful reason, according to Jemima.

Imran Khan, 72, served as Pakistan’s Prime Minister from 2018 to 2022 before being ousted in a no-confidence vote. He now faces numerous legal battles, with convictions in several cases.
