In a shocking incident from Delhi’s Shakarpur area, spy cameras were discovered in the bedroom and bathroom of an IAS aspirant’s rented accommodation. The accused, 30-year-old Karan, the son of the landlord, was arrested after the woman, preparing for the UPSC exams, found the hidden cameras and informed the police.
The woman had been suspicious of unusual activity on her WhatsApp account. Upon checking her linked devices, she found her account had been accessed from an unknown laptop. This discovery led her to inspect her room, where she found a spy camera inside the bulb holder in her bathroom.
Immediately, she called the police. Upon investigation, another spy camera was discovered in the bulb holder of her bedroom. The woman revealed that she often trusted Karan, her landlord’s son, with her house keys when she was away.
During interrogation, Karan confessed that he had installed the cameras three months ago when the woman had gone to her hometown in Uttar Pradesh. Karan used his position of trust to request the house keys frequently under the guise of fixing electrical issues, using the opportunity to retrieve footage from the offline cameras’ memory cards.
The police have seized one spy camera and two laptops containing the recorded videos from Karan’s possession.
An FIR has been registered under relevant sections, and Karan, who has been preparing for competitive exams for the past seven years without success, has been arrested. The incident has caused a stir in the neighborhood and among the landlord’s family, with legal proceedings now underway.
