Aakhir Tak – In Depth
On Tuesday, seven Indian flights received bomb threats, prompting security checks across airports. The threats were declared fake after counter-terrorist drills. The affected flights included Delhi-Chicago Air India, Jaipur-Bengaluru Air India Express, Dammam-Lucknow IndiGo, Darbhanga-Mumbai SpiceJet, Siliguri-Bengaluru Akasa Air, Amritsar-Dehradun-Delhi Alliance Air, and Madurai-Singapore Air India Express.
An X handle issued threats to four planes—two Air India Express flights, a SpiceJet flight, an Akasa Air flight, and an Alliance Air flight. Additionally, an Indigo flight made an emergency landing in Jaipur after receiving a bomb threat.
Security agencies conducted thorough checks after the threats were made via X handle, tagging airlines and police handles. All threats were found to be hoaxes. The Delhi-Chicago Air India flight was diverted to Canada for security screening, while other flights underwent security checks at their destinations.
A similar incident occurred on Monday, targeting three international flights from Mumbai. The messages were also declared hoaxes after extensive security drills involving intelligence agencies, airlines, and airport operators.
The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) is collaborating with cybersecurity agencies and the police to trace the individuals responsible for these threats.
