Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has announced that the INDIA bloc partners—including Congress, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), and the Left parties—will contest the upcoming assembly polls together. He confirmed that Congress and JMM will field candidates in 70 of the 81 seats.
Soren stated, “We have considered all aspects and are moving forward as a unified alliance. In the first phase, it has been decided that 70 candidates will contest. The remaining 11 seats will be finalized after further consultations with our partners.”
Highlighting the unity within the alliance, Soren emphasized that Congress, RJD, JMM, and the Left parties will work together to present a strong front. Detailed information on which party will contest from which seat will be shared soon.
In addition, Jharkhand Minister and Congress leader Banna Gupta confirmed the smooth seat-sharing process, saying, “Our in-charge, president, and CLP leader sat down with the INDIA bloc team. Everything is systematic and running smoothly. There are no doubts or uncertainties. We are confident that the people of Jharkhand will once again give the INDIA bloc, led by Hemant Soren, the opportunity to govern.”
The assembly polls for 81 seats will be held in two phases on November 13 and 20, with the counting of votes on November 23. Meanwhile, the NDA announced its seat-sharing formula on Friday. The BJP will contest 68 seats, AJSU 10, JD(U) 2, and LJP (Ram Vilas) 1 seat.
