In a tragic incident in Faridabad, two bank employees died on Friday night after their SUV got stuck in a submerged underpass. The victims, working at an HDFC Bank branch in Gurugram, were heading to Faridabad when the underpass became flooded due to heavy rain.
According to police, the victims had been warned about the submerged underpass, but they ignored the warnings and attempted to drive through it. Their SUV got stuck, leading to the vehicle filling with water and causing their deaths.
A colleague of the victims stated that the cashier was dropping off the bank manager at Greater Faridabad’s Omaxe City. The colleague claimed there were no barricades at the underpass, which led to the fatal incident.
However, police officials denied these claims, stating that barricades and warning signs were in place. They mentioned that the victims had removed the barricades and proceeded through the underpass, which resulted in their vehicle being trapped and filled with water.
The police have appealed to the public to heed police warnings and adhere to traffic regulations. Heavy rainfall in several parts of Delhi-NCR on Friday prompted an orange alert from the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
