Passengers faced disruptions on Wednesday as services on Delhi Metro’s Blue Line were halted for over 30 minutes after a drone was found lying on the tracks between Uttam Nagar East and Uttam Nagar West metro stations, officials said. The services were regulated between 2:50 pm and 3:29 pm, during which time the drone was removed from the tracks. Following this, services resumed normally.
During this period, single-line train services were available between Uttam Nagar East and Janakpuri West, and Uttam Nagar West and Dwarka. Services on the rest of the Blue Line continued in two loops: from Janakpuri West to Vaishali/NOIDA Electronic City and Dwarka to Dwarka Sector 21. By 3:29 pm, normal services across the entire Blue Line resumed after a security clearance, officials confirmed.
The police reported receiving information about a suspected drone on the tracks, and officers reached the spot to investigate. After obtaining the necessary permissions, CISF staff removed the drone, which was later identified as a small toy drone. There were no suspicious elements found on the drone, a senior police officer said, and it was taken into police custody.
