Two Teenagers Shoot Doctor in Delhi Hospital Under Pretext of Treatment
In a tragic incident, two unknown teenagers shot a doctor inside Nima Hospital, located in Delhi’s Jaitpur area, early on October 3. The police have launched an investigation to capture the accused.
The 55-year-old doctor, identified as Dr. Javed Akhtar, was shot dead by the teenagers, aged between 16 and 17 years, in the early hours of Thursday. The two accused arrived at the hospital around 1:30 AM, seeking treatment for an injured toe.
After receiving treatment, the teens entered the doctor’s cabin and shot him in the head, killing him instantly. According to the police, the teens had visited the hospital earlier on October 1 under the pretext of treatment, likely to conduct a reconnaissance of the site.
A hospital staff member recounted, “Around 1 AM, two teenage boys came for treatment. After the treatment, they entered the doctor’s cabin and shot him in the head. Dr. Javed was on night duty, working in the hospital for the past two years.”
Upon receiving an alert, a team from the Delhi Police arrived at the scene and began scanning CCTV footage from the area to identify the culprits.
The Delhi Police Forensics Unit also arrived at the hospital to collect technical evidence from the crime scene.
A Delhi Police official stated, “Prima facie, it seems to be a case of targeted killing.”
Earlier in August, a similar incident occurred at Delhi’s Dr. Hedgewar Hospital, where a female doctor and a medical dresser were attacked by a patient’s attendant. The patient, who was under the influence of alcohol, and his son assaulted and threatened the doctor during treatment.
