Congress Wants to Lead Youth into Dark World of Drugs: Amit Shah on Delhi Drug Bust
In a post on X, Amit Shah claimed that while the Modi government is committed to a “zero tolerance” policy on drugs, Congress is allegedly using its political influence to promote drug trafficking.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday accused Congress of leading the nation’s youth into the “dark world of drugs” following a recent drug bust in Delhi involving a consignment worth ₹5,000 crore.
Tushar Goyal, the main accused, was arrested after more than 500 kg of cocaine and 40 kg of hydroponic marijuana, worth over ₹5,600 crore, were seized in a raid in south Delhi on Wednesday. Congress has denied any links with Goyal, the alleged kingpin behind Delhi’s largest drug bust.
Amit Shah, in his post, highlighted that while the Modi government is striving for a “Drug-Free India” by implementing a zero-tolerance policy, Congress leaders are allegedly facilitating drug trafficking through their political influence.
“The Modi government has adopted a zero-tolerance policy for a ‘Drug-Free India.’ However, the involvement of a prominent Congress leader in the ₹5,600 crore drug consignment seized from North India is highly dangerous and shameful,” Shah posted.
He further emphasized the negative impact of drugs on youth in states like Punjab and Haryana under Congress rule, contrasting this with the Modi government’s efforts to guide youth towards education, sports, and innovation. Shah accused Congress of trying to drag young people back into the “dark world of drugs.”
“The Modi government will never allow Congress leaders, who are using their political power to push youth into the quagmire of drugs, to succeed,” Shah affirmed.
While Congress has denied any association with Tushar Goyal, the latter admitted during interrogation that he had served as the Chairman of the RTI cell for Delhi Pradesh Congress until 2022. Investigators also found Goyal’s social media profile, where he described himself as the RTI Cell Chairman of Delhi Pradesh Congress.
Goyal, using the alias “Dikki Goyal” on social media, posted photos with several prominent Congress leaders, including Lok Sabha MP Deepender Singh Hooda and Haryana unit chief Uday Bhan.
