Earlier, Savita, Himani’s mother, accused fellow Congress workers of being responsible for her daughter’s murder. She stated that many individuals within the party felt threatened by her rising political career and her close relationships with senior leaders, including Rahul Gandhi.

“My daughter sacrificed a lot for Congress, and party members used to visit our home. Some people in the party might be involved in the murder, as they may have felt threatened by Himani’s rising political career,” Savita told India Today TV.

Savita added that her daughter had been associated with Congress for the past 10 years. “She traveled with Congress MP Rahul Gandhi to Srinagar during the Bharat Jodo Yatra. She wanted to do clean politics, but some people wanted to trap her in a web of problems,” Savita said.

Savita, who resides in Delhi, further revealed that she had not been in contact with Himani since February 27, when she last spoke with her daughter. She mentioned that Himani was scheduled to attend a rally by former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on February 28. However, Savita stated that she was unable to reach Himani, as her phone was switched off.

Congress’s Reaction

Immediately after the sensational news of her murder spread throughout the state, Congress expressed their condolences on X and demanded an impartial investigation into the incident. Several Congress leaders, including Congress MLA BB Batra, called for an SIT investigation. On the other hand, Congress MP Deepender Singh Hooda, with whom Himani had shared numerous pictures, blamed the law and order situation in Haryana.

Despite the show of support on social media, Himani’s mother claimed that no senior leader from the party had contacted them after her daughter’s death. “I met Asha Hooda, and Hooda Saheb knows us, but no Congress leader has spoken to us yet,” she stated.
