The Congress has released its fourth list of candidates for the Haryana Assembly elections 2024, adding five new names to the race. Parimal Pari has been fielded from Ambala Cantt, Sachin Kundu from Panipat Rural, Satbir Dublain from Narwana (SC), Sarva Mitra Kamboj from Rania, and Rohit Nagar from Tigaon.
This new list comes shortly after the release of the party’s third list, which declared 40 candidates. Among the notable names in the third list is Congress MP Randeep Surjewala’s son, Aditya Surjewala, who has been fielded from Kaithal.
With the release of this list, Congress has announced a total of 86 candidates so far. However, candidates for four seats remain unnamed, fueling speculation about a possible last-minute alliance. The Congress has been in seat-sharing discussions with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for the Haryana polls, though talks seem to have reached a deadlock. In the meantime, AAP has released several lists of its own.
Some Congress leaders have raised concerns about forming an alliance with the Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP.
Thursday was the last day for filing nominations. On Friday, the Congress announced 32 more candidates, including former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda from Garhi Sampla-Kiloi, state unit chief Udai Bhan from Hodal, and famed wrestler Vinesh Phogat from Julana.
The party had previously declared 31 candidates in its first list, later adding Balbir Singh from Israna (SC) to the list.
Assembly elections in Haryana will be held on October 5, 2024, with the counting of votes on October 8, 2024.
