CISF Denies Lapses in MPs’ Scuffle in Parliament Premises
The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has denied any lapses in its security measures during the recent scuffle between ruling and opposition MPs inside the Parliament. The incident left two BJP members injured.
CISF’s Statement
CISF Deputy Inspector General (Operations) Shrikant Kishore addressed the issue during a press conference in Delhi, stating, “There was no lapse (by the CISF). By lapse, if you mean some weapons were allowed inside, then I can tell you that no weapon was allowed.” Kishore added that the CISF will remain silent when MPs make allegations.
Accusations Against Rahul Gandhi
The BJP accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of pushing its MPs Pratap Sarangi (69) and Mukesh Rajput (56). In response, Rahul Gandhi claimed that BJP MPs obstructed him from entering the Parliament House on December 19.
Police Case
Following the incident, Delhi Police registered a case against Rahul Gandhi based on a complaint filed by BJP MP Hemang Joshi. The complaint accused Gandhi of “physical assault and incitement” during the scuffle.
Security Protocol
CISF clarified that no inquiry into the scuffle near the ‘Makar Dwar’ of Parliament House is ongoing from their side. Shrikant Kishore also informed reporters that MPs are not made to go through frisking formalities during their entry into the Parliament House complex as per protocol. “Parliament security is paramount,” Kishore added.
Condition of Injured MPs
CISF’s statement came hours after the two injured BJP MPs, Sarangi and Rajput, were discharged from Delhi’s Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital. Mukesh Rajput’s assistant mentioned that the Lok Sabha MP complained of giddiness and heaviness in his head. The MPs were advised to go to Noida’s Kailash Hospital for further assistance.
