The accident took place on July 27 at approximately 9:35 pm on Highway 2. The vehicle, carrying the driver and three students, experienced a tyre failure. The loss of control led to the vehicle being thrown off the road, resulting in the immediate death of the three passengers.
Victims Identified
The deceased have been identified as Harman Somal (23) and Navjot Somal (19) from Malaud village in Ludhiana, and Rashmdeep Kaur (23) from Samana in the Sangrur district. Harman was employed at a daycare in Moncton, while Navjot was in Canada on a study visa. Rashmdeep Kaur was the daughter of government teachers.
Investigation and Assistance
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) is investigating the accident to determine the exact cause. The driver, who sustained non-life-threatening injuries, has been hospitalized. A GoFundMe page has been set up to assist in repatriating the bodies of the deceased students.
