Three prominent malls and a well-known hospital in South Delhi faced a bomb threat, sparking concern and swift action from authorities. The threat, received via email, led to the evacuation of Chanakya Mall in Chanakyapuri, Select Citywalk in Saket, Ambience Mall in Vasant Kunj, and Primus Hospital in Chanakyapuri.
According to the email, the explosive device was set to detonate within a few hours, prompting the Delhi Police and fire teams to conduct extensive search operations at all four locations. Despite the urgency and seriousness of the threat, no bomb was found at any of the sites.
This incident follows closely on the heels of a similar bomb scare at Gurugram’s Ambience Mall on August 17, where the management also received a threatening email. The message claimed that bombs had been planted to “kill everyone in the building,” leading to an immediate evacuation. A thorough search revealed no explosive devices.
On the same day, DLF Mall of India in Noida was also evacuated, causing a brief period of panic among visitors. However, authorities later clarified that the evacuation was part of a pre-planned mock drill aimed at testing the mall’s security preparedness.
Earlier this month, a school in Greater Kailash received a similar email threat, in which the sender claimed that the school building would be blown up. Once again, the threat turned out to be baseless, as nothing was found during the investigation.
These repeated hoax threats have raised concerns about the misuse of technology to create panic among the public. The Delhi Police continues to investigate the origins of these emails and is taking all necessary precautions to ensure public safety.
