A daring robbery took place in Bihar’s Begusarai, where four robbers posing as customers looted jewellery worth Rs 40 lakh. The incident occurred while shop owner Pramod Poddar’s son, Rajeev, was present at the store.
According to CCTV footage, two robbers initially entered the store under the guise of customers and proceeded to the first floor to examine jewellery. Moments later, two more armed men joined them, brandishing weapons and starting the heist. The footage shows one robber instructing customers to stand back while taking jewellery from the glass counters.
Upon hearing the commotion, shop owner Pramod Poddar, whose house is nearby, rushed to the scene. He arrived just as the robbers were attempting to flee. In self-defence, Poddar confronted the criminals using his licensed pistol, injuring two of the robbers and causing panic among the group. The injured robbers were captured, while two others managed to escape.
A video that surfaced online showed a large crowd gathered outside the shop, with police officers investigating inside. According to top police officials, no bystanders were injured during the incident, and the brave actions of the shopkeeper prevented further escalation. The robbers took off with jewellery worth an estimated Rs 40 lakh.
Police are currently examining CCTV footage to track the remaining suspects. They have also recovered the bike used by the robbers during the heist. The investigation is ongoing.
