Karnataka’s Home Minister G Parmeshwar confirmed that a suspect in the murder case of Bengaluru woman Mahalakshmi has been identified. This suspect is believed to be in West Bengal, and efforts are underway to arrest him.
The body of 29-year-old Mahalakshmi was found chopped into 30 pieces in a refrigerator in Bengaluru. “There is information about a person from West Bengal being a suspect. Efforts are on to arrest him,” said Parmeshwar. When asked if anyone was in custody, he clarified, “No, there are suspects being interrogated.”
Mahalakshmi lived in a one-bedroom apartment in Bengaluru’s Vyalikaval area. She was married but living separately from her husband. After learning about the incident, her husband also arrived at the scene.
Addressing concerns about women’s safety, the Karnataka Home Minister assured the public that all necessary measures are being implemented. “The Nirbhaya program is ongoing. We have installed CCTVs and are looking into other such measures to ensure safety,” he added.
The Opposition BJP has recently demanded the resignation of Medical Education Minister Sharan Prakash Patil, accusing him of indulging in irregularities in the procurement of medical equipment for 18 medical colleges. Responding to the BJP’s allegations against Sharan Prakash Patil, Parmeshwar stated, “I am unaware of this. Let us see.”
