Bangladesh Squad Announced for India T20s

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced its squad for the three-match T20I series against India. Mehidy Hasan Miraz has been recalled to the T20I team after a 14-month hiatus. He last played in July 2023 against Afghanistan and missed the T20 World Cup 2024. His return bolsters Bangladesh’s spin attack, which also features Mahedi Hasan, Rakibul Hasan, and young talent Rishad Hossain.

Additionally, left-arm spinner Rakibul Hasan and explosive left-handed batsman Parvez Hossain Emon have also been included in the squad after both missed the World Cup. Back in December 2020, Emon scored a century off 42 balls in the Bangabandhu T20 Cup, but he has only participated in three T20Is so far.

Rakibul was part of Bangladesh’s victorious U19 team that won the World Cup in South Africa in 2020. Having led the junior team in 2022, he has played three T20Is since debuting against Malaysia during the Asian Games last year.

Shoriful Islam’s Return:

Shoriful Islam makes his return after an injury layoff. He missed the second Test against Pakistan and the two-match Test series against India due to a groin injury. His comeback strengthens the seam attack, which also includes Mustafizur Rahman, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, and Taskin Ahmed.

Mahmudullah Riyad is the most experienced player in the squad, having scored 2394 runs and taken 43 wickets in 138 T20Is.

Najmul Hossain Shanto will captain the 15-member squad, which also includes promising young cricketers Towhid Hridoy, Tanzid Hasan Tamim, and Towhid Hridoy. Litton Das is likely to be the first-choice wicketkeeper ahead of Anik, who also played in the T20 World Cup.

The first T20I is scheduled for October 6 at the New Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium in Gwalior. Delhi and Hyderabad will host the second and third T20Is on October 9 and 12 respectively.
