Vandalism at Accused's House in Badlapur Assault Case

The recent Badlapur sexual assault case has ignited widespread anger among locals, leading to the vandalization of the house belonging to Akshay Shinde, the accused in the incident. Shinde, who worked as a sweeper at a school in Badlapur, Maharashtra, allegedly sexually abused two four-year-old girls in the school’s restroom.

On Wednesday, furious residents stormed Shinde’s house, smashing glass, breaking electronic appliances, and leaving the property in disarray. This incident followed a Thane court’s decision to extend Shinde’s police custody until August 26. Shinde was arrested on August 17 after one of the victims recounted her ordeal to her parents, prompting a police investigation.

The situation in Badlapur has escalated, with protests erupting across the town. Demonstrators vandalized public property and clashed with authorities, leading to the arrest of 72 individuals. An FIR was filed against 500 protesters involved in the unrest. The arrested individuals face charges including rioting, vandalism, and assaulting public officials.

In response to the escalating violence, local authorities suspended internet services in Badlapur and ordered the closure of schools on Wednesday. During the protests, 17 city police personnel and eight railway officers were injured due to stone-pelting incidents. The situation at the Badlapur railway station became so tense that police had to resort to cane-charging to clear the tracks and restore train services.

To prevent further violence, additional police forces have been deployed throughout the town. As the investigation into the assault case continues, the community remains on edge, demanding justice for the victims and stringent punishment for the accused.
