Aakhir Tak – In Depth:
BJP leader and wrestler Babita Phogat has rejected allegations made by Olympic medallist Sakshi Malik, labeling them as “false and baseless.” Malik, in her recently released book ‘Witness,’ claimed that Phogat incited wrestlers to protest against former Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president Brij Bhushan Singh. She accused Phogat of doing so to fulfill her ambitions of becoming the WFI president.
Responding to these claims, Phogat firmly denied the allegations, stating, “Sakshi Malik is making baseless accusations. She has used my name to promote her book.” Phogat further added that Malik might even say in the future that she planned to throw medals into the Ganga or that she engaged in inappropriate behavior, which she vehemently denied.
Phogat also raised questions about Malik’s silence regarding Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi’s involvement at the protest site. She asked why Malik had not clarified whom Priyanka sent food to and what Congress leader Deepender Hooda was doing at the protests.
Phogat emphasized that she has already stepped down from all her political posts and dismissed Malik’s accusations as completely unfounded.
WHAT SAKSHI MALIK SAID
Sakshi Malik had claimed that Babita Phogat approached the protesting wrestlers with the idea of protesting against Brij Bhushan Singh. She alleged that Phogat had her own agenda, which was to take Singh’s position as the WFI president. Malik also mentioned that BJP leaders Babita Phogat and Tirath Rana were instrumental in securing permissions for the protests, denying any support from Congress in organizing them.
