NCP Leader Baba Siddique Shot Dead in Mumbai, Two Suspects Detained
Former Maharashtra minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Baba Siddique was shot dead in Mumbai. The tragic incident occurred near Ram Mandir, close to Siddique’s office, while he was celebrating Dussehra by bursting firecrackers. At approximately 9:15 to 9:20 pm, three assailants, their faces covered with handkerchiefs, arrived in a vehicle and opened fire without warning. Three rounds were fired, one of which struck Siddique in the chest, causing him to collapse immediately.
Eyewitnesses rushed him to Lilavati Hospital, where he was declared dead. As soon as the police were informed, they rushed to the scene and detained two individuals. One of the detained suspects is from Uttar Pradesh, and the other is from Haryana. A third suspect is still at large, and the authorities are actively working to apprehend him.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has assured the public of strict action against those responsible for the attack. He stated, “No one will be allowed to take the law into their hands.” He further added that the Mumbai police have been instructed to arrest the remaining suspect promptly and ensure justice is served. Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has cancelled all his Sunday programs and is set to return to Mumbai by midnight.
